US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will hold a first meeting to discuss the Nuclear Agreement with Iran with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other countries participating in the pact next week at the United Nations , diplomats said Thursday.
This meeting on Wednesday called E3 + 3 (Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States) and Iran comes at a time when Trump is thinking whether to abandon the historic agreement of 2015.
European diplomacy chief Federica Mogherini will lead these talks, which will take place outside the UN General Assembly, diplomats said.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is expected to talk about the fate of the nuclear deal in his UN address on Wednesday , a day after Trump’s first speech to the General Assembly, which brings together representatives of 193 countries.
The United States announced Thursday sanctions against Iran, centered on 11 entities and individuals who support the Guardians of the Revolution or are involved in cyber attacks against the US financial system.
Before October 15, Trump must decide whether Iran is complying with the 2015 agreement , and critics fear it may abandon it, which prevents Tehran from building an atomic bomb.
